I'm quite proud that John Mac Laurin's "Pendragon IV" is featured on the cover of Sharon Green's "Ultimate Sailing 2007" Calendar. I'm also pleased that I'm in focus in the shot, 2nd man on the rail, aft of the bow. John's trendsetting 52' boat was designed by Laurie Davidson and was several years ahead of its time. It is said to have been the precursor and inspiration to the Transpac '52 Box Rule designs. I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity for many adventures aboard. Check out the calendar at http://www.ultimatesailing.com.

Rolex Big Boat Series San Francisco, CA, USA September 14 - 17, 2006
Established in 1964, the Rolex Big Boat Series takes place annually on San Francisco Bay. In 2005, Rolex became title sponsor of this prestigious regatta which includes very competitive one-design and handicap racing. Widely recognized as one of the most important sailing events on the U.S. West Coast, sailors from across the country compete in this “granddaddy” of grand-prix racing. I was fortunate to crew aboard Jim and Deb Gregory's Schumacher 50, "Moprheus." We were awarded the regatta's oldest trophy, the St. Francis Perpetual Trophy. for winning our class (IRC A). Jim, of course, also got a new watch! Here's some cool video of the mighty Morpheus... For more photos see the Rolex event website. Photo credit: Sharon Green / Rolex |
